Yedikule ve çevresi için kentsel tarım potansiyelini geliştirmeye yönelik projeler üzerine kafa yoran ekibimiz, çeşitli kaynaklardan dünyada gerçekleşen projelerle ilgili bir okuma-araştırma atölyesi yaptı. 

Bracket: On Farming, Smartcities+eco-warriors, Growing cities-Growing food gibi kaynaklardan okuduğumuz dünya örnekleri üzerinden Yedikule'nin, İstanbul'un ve Türkiye'nin bugünkü ve gelecekteki olası durumunu değerlendirdik.

When they are studying on "Urban Design with Urban Agriculture around Yedikule Projects", our team members had a "reading-research workshop" on world-wide projects about UA. 

We discussed about urban agriculture projects in China, New-York, India, Denmark, which explained in the books such us Bracket: On Farming, Smartcities+eco-warriors, Growing cities-Growing food. We compared different cities and projects and tried to understand the real &potential situation in our country, city and neighbourhood...

Istanbul Bostanlarına Ziyaret/ Visit to Istanbul Bostans

27 Şubat /  > Istanbul Bostanlarında bu kış neler var? 

Yedikule'deki surlar ve bostanlar bölgesine doğru yaptığımız yolculukta İstanbul'un neredeyse tüm toplu taşıma araçlarını kullandık. Ring Otobüsü ve vapurla başlayan seyahatimiz Sirkeci banliyö treni ile son buldu.

Tarihi Yedikule Mahallesinden geçerek bostanların olduğu tarihi sur duvarları boyunca ilerledik ve önümüze çıkan bostanlara girerek neler var, kimler çalışıyor gözlemledik. Mevsim kış olduğu için Karalahana, biraz marul, soğan ve ıspanaktan başka bir şey yoktu. Bahar yaklaştığı için de yavaştan bir toprak hazırlığı vardı bostanlarda. Bostan sahipleri ile sohbet ettik, kimisi çok dosthane ve sıcak karşıladı bizi kimiyse pek hoşlanmadı ziyaretimizden. Bostanları gözlemledikten sonra proje alanı olarak çalışacağımız bölgedeki diğer potansiyel açık alanları gezerek mevcut durum tespitleri yaptık. 

/ 27 Feb. > What's grown in Istanbul's Bostans in this winter ? 

During our journey to the Yedikule Bostans around Istanbul's city walls, we used almost all public transportation vehicles. With ring-bus and ferry we went to Sirkeci and took suburban train passing inside Yedikule historic district. 

We arrived to bostans by passing through the historical Yedikule District. We entered into the orchards and tried to ask some questions to the farmers? Because it's stil winter  there are only seasonal vegetables in the gardens, a little lettuce, collards, onion, spinach... Farmers were preparing the soil for incoming spring season... Some urban farmers welcomed us with warm hospitality but some were not like us too much. After we observed and analysed the current situation in these food oasises in the greatest metropol of our country, we continued to work on other potential open spaces around bostans for improving innovative landscape design projects for this unique district.

04 Mart / 4th March > "Gıda" Üretim Sürecinin Filmleri /Movies of "Food" Production Progress

Yaklaşık 4 haftalık tohum çimlendirme süreci sonunda herkes deneyimini anlatan bir kısa film hazırladı. Bazılarımız için sonuç mutluluk vericiydi, bazılarımız ise tek bir yeşil yaprak bile göremedik toprağın üzerinde... Anladık ki yediğimiz sebzeler öyle kolay yetişmiyormuş, toprak su ve güneş yeterli değilmiş tarım yapmak için... 
Deneyimlerimizi kağıda aktardık, inceledik, çimlenmenin sonucuna göre problemlerin ve çözümlerin ne olabileceğini tartıştık. Çiftçileri anlamaya çalıştık. Yedikuledeki bostanlara gidip üretim yapan insanlara yaşadıklarımızı anlattık, bizimle kıymetli bilgilerini paylaştılar... 

Everybody prepared a short movie which presents personal experiences about food growing at the end of 4 weeks seedling progress. For some of us the results were good, but some could not see a piece of green on the soil. We realized that it is not so easy to grow food that we can buy from the market;  soil, water and sun are not sufficient for doing agriculture.
We drew our experiences with sections, plans and explanations, investigated our results and tried to define the main problems. We tried to understand farmers, visited them in Yedikule Bostans and discussed with them, they shared their valuable knowledge with us....
